An aspiring Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila, has commended former President John Dramani Mahama for declaring his intention to join the race to lead the NDC in 2020.
Alhaji Mobila, who is in the race for the third time declared his support shortly after the former President made his intention known.
In a press statement copied to citinewsroom.com, he said, “The decision by the former President to accept the challenge to contest in the NDC presidential primaries and to subsequently lead the party in the 2020 National Election is a demonstration that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama really has the party and its teeming supporters at heart, following a clarion call on him.”
“The 2020 Election is going to be a contest of comparison of records between the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress, and I have no doubt that considering the track records of Former President Mahama from 2013-2016, the Ghanaian people will reward honesty over lies and deceit which the NPP perpetuated on the Ghanaian electorates.”
“The declaration by JDM is a new era of hope for the future of the NDC, and we should all embrace the good news and work together in unity devoid of any sectoral interest and acrimony to help him bring Ghana to the path of prosperity.”
According to Alhaji Mobila, candidate John Dramani Mahama has the support of the rank and file of the party in the region.
“After a careful consultation with party Elders, Branch and Constituency Executives, Opinion leaders and the rank and file of our party, I have come to the conclusion that John Dramani Mahama is the obvious candidate who can lead the party to capture power from the NPP in 2020.”
He promised to reorganize the NDC to win all the 31 Parliamentary seats in the region, and appealed to the delegates to give him the mandate at the upcoming regional congress.
“By the grace of the Almighty God if given the opportunity to serve as the Northern Regional Chairman of the NDC, I would unite the party, and work towards winning all parliamentary seats to help JDM to achieve his mandate.”
